KASU to Participate in ‘Giving Tuesday’ Fundraiser
JONESBORO – KASU 91.9 FM, the public media service at Arkansas State University, is one of the non-profit organizations patrons can contribute to on Tuesday, Dec. 3, during Giving Tuesday.
Giving Tuesday is a global day of giving celebrated on the Tuesday after Thanksgiving Day. Giving Tuesday runs for 24 hours and begins at midnight local time.
According to GivingTuesday.org, Giving Tuesday is a global generosity movement that unleashes the power of people and organizations to transform their communities and their world. Giving Tuesday was created in 2012 and, over the past seven years, has grown into a global movement.
“We hope people will consider KASU in your charitable giving on this Giving Tuesday,” stated Kristy Cates, KASU development director. “As a local, non-commercial, not-for-profit media service, KASU depends on listener support for its programming. Hopefully, this final push will complete KASU’s fall fundraiser.”
Cates went on to say that KASU positively impacts the community with trusted news, unique programming and live music events throughout the region.
“Our annual ‘Jazz for the Holidays’ concert in Pocahontas is happening Dec. 7 at the Rendezvous Event Center,” said Mark Smith, station manager. “We also sponsor the Arkansas Roots Music Festival in Jonesboro in April, as well as the KASU/Arkansas Steel Associates Monster Groovez concerts as part of the Summer Entertainment Series in Newport, and Bluegrass Monday concerts in Paragould each month (except December).
“Whether it’s our varied programming or music outreach to our communities, we hope that people will invest in our public radio station on Giving Tuesday by contributing financially at KASU.org.”
KASU, 91.9 FM, is the 100,000-watt public media service of Arkansas State. For more information about #GivingTuesday, contact Cates at kcates@AState.edu or 870-972-3486. More details are on the KASU Public Radio Facebook page.
