02/13/2025

JONESBORO – Fans beamed with Red Wolf pride during the annual Student Activities Board’s (SAB) “Howl on the Hardwood” on Wednesday night, Feb. 12, at First National Bank Arena.

The pep rally is a tradition at Arkansas State University, allowing students, faculty and alumni to unite and show support for the Red Wolves basketball teams.

Throughout the games, students and Greek organizations participated in competitions, with the winners announced following the men’s basketball game.

The Bodolf Award, the overall spirit award, was presented to Delta Zeta Sorority for their Red Wolf enthusiasm.

Several organizations put their artistic talents to the test in the hunt for the Picasso Award, a competition for the best overall banner, with Zeta Tau Alpha Sorority securing the coveted title.

A-State Speech and Hearing Center took home the Alpha Wolf Award. The award is given to an organization that has supported A-State by donating time, gifts or talent. During 2024, the department donated 4,700 hours through hands-on clinical services for future speech-language pathologists.

The Leader of the Pack Award was presented to a student who goes above and beyond to help their fellow Red Wolves. This year, Heidy Bulbarela-Hernandez was awarded the title for her commitment to serving Hispanic first-year, first-generation students on campus. She serves as president of Sigma Iota Alpha Sorority and Hermana y Hermano, a mentorship group at A-State.

Students also had the opportunity to win gift cards to local Jonesboro businesses.

The women’s basketball team beat Southern Miss 74-53, followed by the men’s team which also secured a win over the Golden Eagles, at 101-67.
