NYITCOM at A-State celebrated its annual Commencement & Hooding Ceremony on Friday, May 24, at First National Bank Arena.

“We are extremely proud of each of these new physicians,” said Shane Speights, D.O., dean of NYITCOM at A-State. “We are so grateful for our incredibly strong relationship with Arkansas State University, and the fact that these seven doctors were able to complete their medical degree on the same campus where they earned their undergraduate degree is really special.”

After finishing medical school, physicians must complete specialty training to earn board certification. Allbritton will specialize in Emergency Medicine at UCF Medical Center in Ocala, Fla. Shana (Pediatrics) and Tyler (Family Medicine) Childress will perform their residencies at the University of Oklahoma in Tulsa.

Daniels will perform a transitional year at Baptist Health in Little Rock before moving to the University of Missouri-Kansas City to specialize in Diagnostic Radiology. Bacot (UAMS Northeast, Jonesboro) and Preston (UAMS Northwest, Fayetteville) will specialize in Family Medicine. Meurer is headed to Little Rock to specialize in Pathology at UAMS.

NYITCOM at A-State, which opened in 2016 through a private/public partnership between Arkansas State University and New York Institute of Technology on Long Island, N.Y., operates out of Wilson Hall. The Class of 2024 was the fifth to graduate from NYITCOM’s Jonesboro campus.
