Strong-Turner Alumni Chapter to Present Historic Photos to A-State Museum
JONESBORO – The Strong-Turner Alumni Chapter of the Arkansas State University Alumni Association is donating to the A-State Museum a set of framed historic photos documenting the longstanding African American presence at A-State.
The photo exhibit will remain accessible for STAC’s educational purposes across campus.
A celebration of the donation is set for 2-3 p.m. Wednesday, June 21, at Cooper Alumni Center, 2600 Alumni Blvd.
“Representatives from the Strong-Turner Chapter and the A-State Museum will mark this history-making beginning of more collaboration between the museum, STAC, and African American communities across the Mississippi Delta,” noted Dr. Michael Reinschmidt, museum director. “Short speeches by those who created the exhibit, and what it means to them, will reflect on this initiative and the story behind it.”
The public is invited to join the celebration and witness a new chapter to open for the museum, university, and underserved alumni and student groups, he added.
Parking will be available at Cooper Center and at First National Bank Arena. Those planning to attend are encouraged to notify Reinschmidt, mreinschmidt@AState.edu, for planning purposes.
