Students, Faculty and Staff Engaged in United Way Campaign
JONESBORO – The 2018 campaign for United Way begins today at Arkansas State University.
An online video announcement to faculty, staff and students went live this morning at AState.edu.
Dr. Karen McDaniel, associate professor of management and chair of Marketing and Management, and Adonis Thompson, associate director of Residence Life, are co-chairs of the “Leading the Pack, by Giving Back” campaign for United Way on the A-State campus.
"United Way helps provide numerous programs focusing on education, health and financial stability to people in need in our community. A few people uniting makes a difference," according to McDaniel. "Just imagine, with many Red Wolves uniting, the significant impact that could be made to improve our community."
Open enrollment for the "Leading the Pack, by Giving Back" runs through Friday, Nov. 9. The goal is to raise $30,000 in pledges during this three-week pledge drive.
"Let’s make 'Leading the Pack, by Giving Back' impactful," Thompson added. "We encourage you to join us by financially supporting the United Way of Northeast Arkansas. We know that united giving creates an impact that is much greater than what any of us can do individually."
United Way is a centralized funding approach to address issues in the community, such as lack of educational preparedness, hunger and poverty.
The United Way allows A-State employees to donate through payroll deduction, which spreads the giving out over time.
Individuals may choose to designate all or part of their donation to any tax-exempt 501(c)3 organization within the eight-county service area of the United Way of Northeast Arkansas.
Donors generally like to know that 99 cents of every dollar given to United Way stays in Northeast Arkansas to benefit the people of this region.
