Cache River Valley Seed president Randy Woodard announced the recipients. Henderson is a two-time winner of the scholarship.

The scholarship is named the Joseph E. McAlister Scholarship Endowment in the College of Agriculture at Arkansas State. McAlister, who attended Arkansas State, and his brother purchased land for agricultural production and a seed cleaning operation that became known as McAlister’s Seed Service.

Upon McAlister’s retirement, Woodard became the chief executive officer of CRVS. He and his wife Cindy made a $100,000 pledge to the Arkansas State Foundation in 2004 to honor the career and service of the company’s founder. The Woodards are both A-State graduates.

The endowment provides scholarships for students seeking degrees within the College of Agriculture who have an interest in plant science, agricultural business or agronomy.
