Sympathy to the Family and Former Colleagues of Irene Martz
JONESBORO – The university community extends sympathy to the family, friends and former colleagues of Irene Martz of Jonesboro, who died Friday. Martz retired from Arkansas State University in 2005.
Deeply devoted to the institution, she served as a member of the administrative staff over a 48-year career, and continued her support for both academic and athletic programs in numerous ways after concluding her employment. During the university's Centennial Celebration in 2010, she was one of the first 100 individuals selected for inclusion on the Staff Wall of Honor in recognition of her longtime service and commitment to A-State.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 2, at Emerson Funeral Home. Her complete obituary is available online.
Arkansas State University will darken the clock tower of the Dean B. Ellis Library Thursday evening in memorial tribute to Mrs. Martz and her countless contributions to A-State and higher education.
