Sympathy to the Family and Former Colleagues of Philip Jackson
JONESBORO – The university community extends sympathy to the family, friends and former colleagues of Philip Jackson of Jonesboro, retired president of the Arkansas State University System Foundation, Inc. Jackson died Dec. 11 following a lengthy battle with ALS.
Jackson served almost 40 years on the university staff, the last 23 as controller, chief financial officer, then president of the foundation.
He earned his bachelor’s and master’s degrees at Arkansas State, and was a certified public accountant. Jackson was well-known for his musical talent and for the commitment he gave to numerous community organizations.
Survivors include his wife, Lisa, three children, and several other family members.
A celebration of life is scheduled for Friday, Jan. 10, at First Presbyterian Church in Jonesboro. His complete obituary is online.
The ASU System Foundation established an endowment in Jackson's honor when he retired. Gifts may be directed to Arkansas State University System Foundation, Inc., P.O. Box 1990, State University, AR 72467 for the Philip & Lisa Jackson Endowment for Guitar Studies.
A-State will darken the clock tower of the Dean B. Ellis Library Friday, Jan. 10, in memorial tribute to Jackson for his contributions and service to Arkansas State University.
