08/14/2015

PIGGOTT, Ark. — The Hemingway-Pfeiffer Museum and Educational Center (HPMEC) is hosting a winetasting and dinner, the evening of Sept. 18, at the Cooper Alumni Center on the campus of Arkansas State University, 2600 Alumni Boulevard.

The evening begins at 6 p.m. with hors d’oeuvres and the dinner and winetasting follows at 7 p.m.  The theme for the evening will be “A Taste of Hemingway’s Italy,” and the courses will parallel author Ernest Hemingway’s trips to the European country, particularly in the region of Venice. Proceeds will benefit the museum.

The evening serves as a kick-off for the museum’s upcoming trip to Italy and Switzerland, following in the footsteps of “A Farewell to Arms,” parts of which were written in Piggott.  Details of the trip will be revealed at the dinner.

The cost of a ticket is $100.  Tables of eight are available for $750.  Please RSVP to the museum by Friday, Sept. 11, by calling (870) 598-3487 or emailing HPMEC director adamlong@AState.edu. Those interested may also contact the museum for more information about the trip.

This event is sponsored by Piggott State Bank, First National Bank – Piggott’s Banking Center and the Cavanaugh Auto Group.
