Theatre Announces Cast and Crew for 'Shakespeare’s R & J'

JONESBORO – Arkansas State University Theatre will present "Shakespeare’s R & J," a drama adapted by Joe Calarco, Friday and Saturday, April 15-16, and Monday through Wednesday, April 18-20.

The production, under the direction of Tim Bohn, associate professor of theatre, will begin at 7:30 p.m. each evening in the Black Box Theatre at Fowler Center, 201 Olympic Dr.  A meet the company dessert reception will follow the opening night performance on April 15.

The cast includes Jeremy Smith, a senior theatre major from Dumas, as Student 1; Davis Campbell, a freshman theatre major from Batesville, as Student 2; Jackson Wu, a junior theatre major from Taipei, Taiwan, as Student 3; and Zac Passmore, a freshman theatre major from Jonesboro, as Student 4.

Bohn also will be sound designer.  Virginia Hirsch, a senior theatre major from Cabot, will be assistant director.  Scenic designer and technical director will be Jeff McLaughlin, assistant professor of theatre. Assistant lighting designer will be Erin Davis, a senior theatre major from Jacksonville.  Light board operator will be Renisha Parker, a sophomore theatre major from Van Buren.  Sound board operator will be Jaelyn Epps, a senior theatre major from Little Rock.

Betsy Hegger, a senior theatre major from St. Louis, will serve as costume designer. Claire Abernathy, assistant professor of theatre, will serve as costume shop manager.  Alyssa Burleson, a sophomore theatre major from North Little Rock, will serve as properties master. Tyler Gillespie, a senior theatre major from Dumas, will serve as master electrician.  Justin Almager, a senior theatre major from El Dorado, will serve as wardrobe crew head.

Josh Donner, a senior theatre major from Mountain Home, will serve as wardrobe and makeup crew. House manager will be Davis Polston, a sophomore theatre major from Searcy.  Emma Watkins, a sophomore theatre major from Jonesboro, will serve as assistant stage manager.  Stage management duties for the production have been assigned to Ashley Pratt, a senior theatre major from El Dorado.

Tickets may be purchased for reserved seating in advance at the Central Box Office in the Convocation Center or by calling 972-ASU1.  Tickets are also available online at tickets.astate.edu.  Reserved seating tickets (if available) may be purchased at the door on the evening of the performance.  Ticket prices are $10 ($8 in advance).

Advanced reservations are highly recommended.  Parents are cautioned the performance includes adult situations and sexual content.
