08/27/2015

JONESBORO – Rehearsals of the University-Community Choir start soon at Arkansas State University.

The group, which is inviting new members to participate, will be singing Handel’s "Messiah" with orchestra this term.

Rehearsals begin Monday, Aug. 31, in the A-State Choir Room, room 144 of the Fine Arts Center.  Materials cost is $25 per semester for non-university chorus members.  A-State students and employees may register for credit MUS 3361.004 or non-credit MUS 3360.004.

The Jonesboro group will join with the singers of the Arkansas Northeastern College/Blytheville Community Chorus to present the work on Sunday, Nov. 8, at the historic First Baptist Church in Blytheville, and Monday, Nov. 9, in Riceland Hall in Fowler Center, 201 Olympic Dr.

Dr. Dale Miller of A-State and Dr. Keith Hearnsberger of ANC will conduct the performances.

Miller invites any interested Jonesboro-area singers of high school age and above to contact him by Monday, Aug. 31, through email at rdmiller@astate.edu or at the A-State choral office, (870) 972-3841. Auditions are not required, but new singers to the group should make an appointment to sing a voice check to determine voice part.
