Wolves Up Week Events Planned at A-State to Welcome Students to Campus
JONESBORO – Students and visitors to Arkansas State University will be treated a series of fall events taking place during the start of the fall semester.
With classes starting on Monday, many students will be moving in on Saturday, Aug. 19.
The week of activities for Wolves Up Week kicks off on Saturday with Panhellenic Sorority Bid Day. At this event, guests of potential members participating in bid day are welcome to the event which begins at 9:30 a.m. at Centennial Bank Stadium.Wolf Pack Welcome will take place later that day at Heritage Plaza Lawn from 7-9 p.m. for music, games and refreshments.A Splash Bash will be held on Sunday, Aug. 20, from 5 – 8 p.m. with dinner on the lawn, music and water inflatables.To help students cool off, the First in the Pack Resource Center will offer a cooling center with lemonade and popsicles from Monday, Aug. 21, through Thursday, Aug. 24, from 11-2 a.m.This is also a good time for students to visit the newly founded center, located in room 133 of the Dean B. Ellis Library, which is a place where first-generation students can study, ask questions about campus or hang out between classes.Several other events will be taking place on Monday, including a hot yoga class on the Heritage Plaza Lawn at 5 p.m.Students can learn more about on-campus recreation from 3-5 p.m. at the Red W.O.L.F. Center for REC Fest. There will be information about wellness programs, group fitness classes, intramurals and club sports.
Students can attend a performance by perception artists Sean Emory at 6:30 p.m. in Centennial Hall of the Reng Student Union. Emory engages his audience through sleight of hand, card games, mind games and stunts.Red Hot Red Wolves will be held from 8-10 p.m. on the Heritage Plaza Lawn. Students will enjoy food, music and fire dancers with a sweet treat at the end of the night.On Tuesday, Aug. 22, from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. students can attend Commuter Connections in the Sun Belt Lounge of the Reng Student Union. Students who commute to class can learn more about and get connected to campus life and the resources available to those who live off campus.The Interfraternity Council (IFC) will host a unity flag football tournament and cookout on Tuesday from 6 until 8:30 p.m. Students will get to enjoy food, music and to watch IFC Fraternity members battle it out on the flag football field.
A Silent Disco will be held from 9 p.m. until midnight on Tuesday at the Red Wolf Center where students can dance the night away.Area businesses will be on Heritage Plaza Lawn on Wednesday, Aug. 23, from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. for the annual Community and Organization Fair. All other details remain the same].The graduate school will host a welcome back breakfast for graduate students on Thursday, Aug. 24, from 8-11 a.m. on the sixth floor of the library Students who are interested in joining an IFC Fraternity can learn more about the experience with a fraternity life interest session on Thursday, from 5 until 6 p.m. in the auditorium of the Reng Student Union.Also happening on Thursday, students can Light Up the Lawn on Heritage Plaza Lawn from 8-11 p.m. with a glow foam party which will include music, games and refreshments. Those who have registered to participate in fall 2023 IFC Formal Recruitment Week will have an orientation on Friday, Aug. 25, at 6 p.m. in the Auditorium of the Reng Student Union.Several events will be hosted in conjunction with the Student Activities Board.
