Thompson Scholarship-Currently Enrolled Students
This scholarship is awarded to four (4) continuing students of an underrepresented ethnic background. The Scholarship award is $2,000.00 per awardee and is allocated in the Fall and Spring semesters.
Application deadline for Spring is April 1, 2022.

Thompson Scholarship- Freshman
This scholarship is awarded to incoming freshmen students of an underrepresented ethnic background. Arkansas State University received a $2.8 million endowment gift in 2002 from the estate of James L. Thompson. Thompson, who died in spring 2001, was a retired airline captain for Delta Air Lines living in Houston and a 1944 alumnus of what was then Arkansas State College.

Minority Teacher Scholars Program
The Arkansas Department of Higher Education offers the Minority Teacher Scholars Program to African-American, Hispanic, Asian-American, and Native American students. It is designed to provide scholarships to students who will be attending public or private institutions of higher education in the State of Arkansas with approved teacher education programs. Applications are available in the Professional Education Programs office, Education Building, room 213, and on the Arkansas Department of Higher Education web site.

Hearst Foundation for Minorities Scholarship
The William Randolph Hearst Foundation established an endowment at ASU in the mid-1980's to provide scholarships for minority students. The endowment has grown, thanks to two additional grants from the Hearst Foundation.

Eligibility Requirements
- Strong consideration to minority students (Please voluntarily disclose on your application if you are a minority).
- Full-time student pursuing BSN degree.
- Minimum 3.0 GPA.
- First preference to Poinsett County students (2nd Crittenden & 3rd, Craighead).
- Preference will be given to applicant with financial need.
Additional Leet Scholarship Information
The Chairish "Design Your Future" Scholarship ($2,500)
Open to students from all underrepresented backgrounds and all majors. Students are asked to submit a 500 word essay designing their ideal future and their plans to achieve that dream.
- Minimum 2.0/4.0 cumulative GPA
- Open to graduating high school seniors, college undergraduates, and graduate students.
- Must be enrolled or planning to enroll at an accredited two-year, four-year, or technical/vocational college or university in the United States.
This scholarship is open to students from all underrepresented backgrounds and all majors. Examples of ideal applicants include, but are not limited to, students from racial minorities typically underrepresented in higher education, first generation college students, women pursuing a degree in a STEM or typically male-dominated industries, students with disabilities, and/or similar situations.
