Biography

Before starting in 2024 as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Clinical Laboratory Sciences, Arkansas State University, almost all of Dr. Jung's academic career was spent in Republic of Korea and the UK. He graduated from the Department of Biomedical Laboratory Science at Yonsei University, went to graduate school at Ajou University School of Medicine, did a postdoc in the UK, and worked as a faculty member at Namseoul University for over 14 years.

One of Dr. Jung's research priorities after undergraduate studies was on the pathogenicity of free-living amoebae. Research on pathogenicity includes protein discovery for diagnosis and prevention, drug discovery for infection treatment, etc., and is mainly focused on target-based research. Since 2015, research related to lectins has been conducted. Another research, which contributed to the filing of a patent on the function of ginseng polysaccharide as a single compound, is conducting immunological analysis of polysaccharides from plants and insects.

Currently, in addition to this research, Dr. Jung is engaged in professional academic activities as a member of ASCLS, ASCP, and ASP in the US.
