Research Interests

Mrs. Pait is currently investigating the use of artificial intelligence to develop a novel font for readers with dyslexia.  This grant funding project is part of the ASTATE Center for No Boundaries Thinking. She directs student researchers who are taking part in the study.  Researchers mentored by Mrs. Pait have not only given scholarly presentations regarding their participation with the research, but they have received awards based on their presentations.

Biography

Mrs. Pait is the Director of Clinical Services at Arkansas State University Speech and Hearing Center and coordinates all clinical practicum of Communication Disorders students. She has been with ASTATE since the fall of 2002. She specializes in clinical education, freshman studies, and dyslexia intervention. Honors include the CNHP Teaching Award for both 2008 and 2013.  She received the ASHA ACE award for excellence in continuing education in 2019.  Current educational passions lie in collaborating with researchers from many disciplines in order to solve issues within communication disorders.  This interdisciplinary approach to research is evident in the ASTATE Center for No Boundaries Thinking.
